Production Process

At Ceramo S.A. de C.V., artisanal excellence and technological innovation come together to create high-temperature ceramic containers. Our production process follows strict quality and safety standards, ensuring premium products for the spirits industry and other sectors.

1. Ceramic Paste Preparation

We begin with a careful selection of materials. Our ceramic paste consists of:

  • OM4 Clay
  • Kaolin
  • Silica
  • Sodium Feldspar
  • Gray Talc (200 mesh)

These materials are mixed and ground in ball mills lined with quartz for approximately three hours, resulting in a homogeneous mixture known as “Slip.”

2. Molding

The slip is poured into plaster molds, specifically designed for each bottle or container. The molds remain filled for 20 to 30 minutes, allowing the container walls to reach the desired thickness.

3. Demolding and Polishing

Once the pieces have hardened sufficiently, they are carefully removed from the molds and hand-polished with wet sponges to ensure a flawless finish.

4. Glazing

The dried containers are glazed with a transparent liquid glaze, which is poured inside and then drained. For a special finish, the glaze can be applied by dipping or using manual decoration techniques.

The ceramic glaze is composed of:

  • Kaolin
  • Potassium Feldspar
  • Silica
  • Gray Talc
  • Calcium Carbonate
  • Sodium Carbonate
  • Barium Carbonate

For specific color finishes, carefully selected mineral oxides are added.

5. Firing

The pieces are placed on refractory carts and introduced into our turbo kilns. Using a gas and pressurized air combustion system, we reach temperatures between 1,220°C and 1,250°C, equivalent to Pyrometric Cone No. 6. The firing process lasts approximately 9 to 10 hours.

After firing, the pieces remain in the kilns for at least 5 hours to cool gradually, ensuring their strength and durability.
